Information Visitors Provide
Search Terms Sent to Providers
When a visitor enters a name, location, or other detail into a sponsored search box, that query is sent to the third-party provider operating the tool. Allegheny County Inmate Population does not store those search terms on its own server.
Messages and Direct Requests
If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the submitted details may be kept long enough to review and respond. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Information Collected Automatically
Basic technical data may be collected when a page loads or when a visitor moves through the site.
- IP address used for the connection.
- Browser name and version.
- Device category and operating system.
- Pages opened and approximate time spent on those pages.
- Referring website, when a browser sends it.
- Date and time stamps for visits and requests.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site usage, remember basic preferences, support analytics, and help advertising systems work. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, but some features or measurements may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, readable, and responsive.
- To send search requests to the partner service selected by the visitor.
- To understand which Allegheny County jail, court, and locator pages visitors use most.
- To diagnose broken links, errors, abuse, or technical problems.
- To support advertising that may be based on general interests or browsing context.
Outside Websites and Public Portals
This site links to Allegheny County Jail pages, sheriff and court pages, Pennsylvania DOC, UJS, VINE, BOP, ICE, open-records resources, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the privacy policy and terms of the destination site control that activity.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure ads or personalize them across websites. That tracking happens under the partner's controls, not as an official Allegheny County records system.
